Governor-General of Canada 4-day visits to Malaysia

HM Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin ang Governor-General Johnston at the welcoming ceremony in Parliament Square.

His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (the Supreme Ruler) consent to greet the arrival of Governor-General of Canada, David Lloyd Johnston who on a 4-day visit to Malaysia. The official welcoming ceremony of the Governor-General was held at the Parliament Square, Kuala Lumpur. David Lloyd Johnston arrived at the Parliament Square at 10.10 am and were greeted by His Majesty the Supreme King and Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as well as cabinet ministers.

The national anthem of both countries were played by the first battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment. Later, Governor-General Johnston inspected the guard-of-honour mounted by four officers and 102 men of the battalion headed by Major Muhammad Abdullah. A 21-gun salute was fired simultaneously. This is the first state visit by a Governor-General of Canada to Malaysia.
