First of all, thank you for all of my visitors for spending some times surfing my blog. Its has been a thrill to manage a royal blog specifically regarding the Malaysia's royalties. And it is in my best interest to see that my blog to be the best among the best. Malaysia : Land of nine kings is the official name for this blog. It takes me one whole year to collect all information of Malaysia royalty including pictures. And this is the problem or weakness that I will try to solve as early as possible.

2013 Lahad Datu Standoff ; Radin's Blog Official Statement

On 1 March 2013, three days after Malaysia's extended deadline for the intruders to leave Lahad Datu, a firefight between the Malaysian Security Forces and Filipino armed intruders broke off in the silent village of Kampung Tanduo, Lahad Datu, Sabah. The Filipino intruders, claiming themselves as the Royal Security Forces of the Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo was sent by Jamalul Kiram III, one of the pretenders to the throne of the Sultanate of Sulu. They arrived from Simunul Island, Tawi-Tawi of Southern Philippines on 11 February 2013. Their objective is to resolved their unresolved territorial claim to eastern Sabah. They arrived in the number of 235 people and some of them were armed.
14 people were killed in the skirmish where 2 of them are Malaysian Police Commandos. The Police also has ordering the armed intruders to surrender by sending a leaflets through from airdropped both in Malay and Suluk reading : "Warning, Lay down your arm. Surrender. Surrender. Surrender." The armed intruders had been cordoned off by the police on Feb 12 after their arrival and put their claim in Sabah. Due to the skirmish, the town of Lahad Datu is almost deserted with many of the business premises closed down and the dwindling of the number of vehicles.
The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abd Razak has stated that, he had given Malaysian Security Forces to take "any action" against the group. He also added that there will be no compromise for the sultanate's forces and that "either they surrender or face the consequences".
Jamalul Kiram III, the false pretender
Who is exactly Jamalul Kiram III and what is his relation with the Sulu Sultanate? He is one of many pretenders to the throne of the Sultanate of Sulu. It is unclear the reason why he wants to claim the Sabah territory even though his claim is a false one, as he is among those of fake pretenders trying his luck to become a Sultan of Sulu. His bloodline is actually descended through his father Sultan Punjungan Kiram by his wife, Sharif Usna Dalus Strattan. His father is not a royalty by blood but only a stepson to Sultan Mawallil Wasit, brother of Sultan Jamalul Kiram II who died childless. Sultan Punjungan Kiram were actually a son of Sultan Mawallil Wasit's wife named, Mora Napsa Laga by her previous husband, an Imam named Amil Hamja before she been coerced to marry Sultan Mawallil Wasit.
So, Jamalul Kiram III is actually does not even have the rights to the throne of Sulu as he is only a descendant of the stepson of the royal. Thus, from his behavior we can actually stated that he is unfit to rule and not qualified even by moral to be installed as the Sultan of Sulu.
Radin's Blog Official Statement
Due to recent conflict arose in Lahad Datu and the problems they have caused to Sabah, the State Beneath the Wind, it is obvious he doesn't even has the basic of a true monarch. A Sultan need to be compassion and try his best to protect his subjects well-being and not declaring war to others just for his own personal gain. Radin's Blog from this day onward reject, deny and will not acknowledge any claims from Jamalul Kiram III and his descendants to the throne of the Sultanate of Sulu.

Officially, i'm at the capital of Johor, the city of Johor Bahru which is also my hometown. We, the Johorean is very proud with our heritage and culture which is in the past wast a part of the Empire of Johor-Riau. Among the famous landscape of Johor is the Istana Besar Johor Bahru, the official palace of the Sultan of Johor. Some part of the palace is open for public as a living museum. Nevertheless the museum is closed in 2012 for renovation. It is expected to finish on 2013. Before I'm returning to Johor, I have made a phonecall to the museum to ask whether or not the museum has been open. And the answer is "no". So, I was beginning to wonder how big is the renovation is. And the picture below answer it all.
It was a total renovation where the blue tiled roof is changed to red. During my research, the red roof is its original colour. And probably they are trying to revert it back to its former glory. And, possibly the renovation will be finished in early 2014. I am really excited by the process. Is this a sign of the State's are preparing for the Sultan 's coronation ceremony? Lets us wait and see.
P.S :: The coronation ceremony of Sultan Ibrahim as the Sultan of Johor will be held on 5th May 2014.

Its been a while since the last time I updated the blog. Due to the time constraint of my work, I need to sacrifice my time with the blog and focused more with my work. The royal blog has always be my passion and I have put my time so much on it and I just can't put it aside. The time went by so fast and we already in the year of 2013. Happy New Year to all. Let us praised the Almighty God as we are still alive.
A lot of things has happened in the past 12 months and usually I will make a revision of what has happened, including an important events attended by our beloved Royalty. Nevertheless, i will just skip this part for 2012. And for 2013, this year probably the most important year to us Malaysian. The 13th General Election is drawing near, for whatever the dates it might be. Monarchy plays an important role after the election, the appointment of the Head of Government. I'm looking forward to that.
Well, I think for the time being, lets us relaxed and see what will be unfold. As for me, watching the Kemena fireworks marked my first ever New Year celebration. Happy New Year 2013 to all my visitors, followers and blogwalkers. Thank you again for all the supports and advices.

Assalamualaikum and Peace be upon all of you.
Welcome to my blog.

I would like to appreciate all of my blog visitors, followers and blogwalkers who always coming here and giving support to me all these years. Currently, I am already returned to my parent house in Johor to celebrate Eid-Fitri, which is just around the corner. This is my first post in the month of August, seriously I can't get myself to update the blog due to other commitment especially my hectic work schedule this previous 2 weeks. Just when I want to go home and take a holiday for Hari Raya, why it must be also the when it getting really busy? Nobody knows.
Hari Raya Eid-Fitri for Muslims is about celebrating the success of performing fasting in the month of Ramadhan. So, if the commoners are virtually going holiday, returning back to home and celebrate Hari Raya with family members, what is the royalty do during this period of time? Commonly, they celebrating it with the people. Reducing the burden of the unfortunate is all about the job of royalty during the month of Ramadhan.

Lets see some of the example of what our royalty do. For example, breaking fast ceremony with the people. The Johor Royalty is among the first to take this opportunity, with the program of 'Kembara Ramadhan Diraja Johor'. It doesn't have to be anything extravagant, as long as the people are concern, anything simple and humble such as buying food in the Ramadhan Bazaar for breaking fast is more than enough.
And, the simple way in the Ramadhan will always change into something festive and entertaining such as the Hari Raya Open House. Well, we will see how our royalty will performed their duties well for the people in the future. In the system of Constitutional Monarchy, the royalty is not about ruling the nation because their role is simply ceremonial. Their main functions is about being a role model and social-services to the people.

Assalamualaikum and Peace be upon all of you.
Welcome to my blog.
Happy a brand new month of June 2012 from me as the writer of Radin's Blog. And in this brief blog update, I would like to express my gratitude to my blog's visitors, followers and blogwalkers who visited this site. With 1,500 clicks daily, it is the main reason why I have the determination to continue updating the Royal Portal. Also included in my aim since the blog's first re-branding in 2010, is to promote the Malaysian Royal Families and the significance of Constitutional Monarchy system that we adapt since the country's independence in 1957.
Today, I would like to announce that, I will take a few weeks time off from the blogging world. This is because of I would be reallocate to another place within this several weeks. And I need to be settled down and relatively stable in the new place, before I can continue to update the blog. And even though if I can resume the blog, probably I need to minimize the post and only limited to important events. The new place probably will restrain my time as I need to make my job as my main priority.
I will continue my effort to improve this Royal Portal in the future. Thank you for your support all this time. (Don't be despair, as I will continue to update the blog from time to time. Probably with the reduce of number of post.)
That's all for now

The Installation's Eve

Assalamualaikum and Peace be upon all of you
Welcome to my blog
The big day has finally arrived, the Installation Day of the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong (the Supreme Ruler) of Malaysia, Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah of Kedah. This is the second time for His Majesty who is also the Sultan of Kedah assumed the office of Yang di-Pertuan Agong. The first was in 1970, where the 43 years old Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah with his beautiful Queen at that time, the late Sultanah Bahiyah of Kedah were installed as King. Currently, it is his second wife, the Sultanah Hajah Haminah who will be installed besides him in the Installation ceremony. The 84 Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah is the oldest King yet to hold the position as the Supreme Ruler.
Personally, I feel very excited with the recent event especially because the Installation ceremony is not something that you can see everyday. It is only once every five years. And I have missed the previous one during the installation of Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Tuanku Nur Zahirah of Terengganu in 2006. So, this is the nearest chance for me or perhaps I need to wait another five years to watch it, if I have the chance. And that is one big 'IF'. Another reason for my excitement is because of the venue, the grandeur of the new National Palace in Jalan Duta seriously catch my attention. My heart leaping like.. I want to see it.. I want to see it..
And there are also several questions from my blog followers regarding the broadcast. The Malaysian can easily watched the Installation through RTM1 or any television channel available from the start of the ceremony in 9.00 am in the morning. For those who cannot watched it live on television, you can also watched the online streaming telecast at www.rtm.gov.my/tv1 . And before I forget, the Malaysian Standard time is Kuala Lumpur GST+8.
Until next time.

The lost Sultanate of Pattani Darul Makrif

Assalamualaikum and Peace be upon all of you.
Welcome to my blog.
Today we have heard another sad and shocking news, but now it is neither a royal death or royalty news, but it is about a civil casualty after a bombing take place in the southern Thailand in Yala and Hatyai. The bombing resulted a death of our fellow Malaysian and eight others were severely injured. The incident taking place at Lee Garden Plaze Hotel resulted hundreds of Malaysian were injured due to the explosion. According to the Governor of Songkhla, Grissada Boonrach, 416 people were injured in the incident. The Thais Police meanwhile stating that the bomb attack is an act of terrorism. The Thais Government generously agreed to bear all Malaysian medical cost in form of 4,000 baht (RM400).
Looking at the circumstances, it is really sad to witness of what has become to the Southern Thailand. This is a fact that probably most of us has started to forget is, the territory even though under the territory of Kingdom of Thailand, the geographical land in the southern Thailand is still a part of Malaya (Tanah Melayu). Even 80% of the population is predominantly ethnic Malay, which embrace Islam. So, it is not complete to learn about the Malaysian history especially regarding the Malay States if we do not learn the history of southern Thailand. In by any chance also the land of a famous Sultanate in the past..
The lost Malay Sultanate of Patani.
It's not just Patani, but it also cover the land area of Setul (Satun), Ujung Salang, Bukit (Phuket), Singgora (Sonkhla), Mardelong (Phattalung) up to the Segenting Kera (Isthmus of Kra). But in this topic, I will just focus on Patani.
The lost Sultanate
The map below signify the location of Pattani during the age of the Malay Kingdoms. Locating in the north, the sultanate borders and shares identical language ascent and culture with that of Kelantan. The state also bordered the Sultanate of Singgora in the north. What exactly happening to the famous Sultanate in the past? The same thing is happening in the north just like its happening in the south.
In 1824, the British and Dutch signed the English-Dutch Treaty separating the Johor-Riau Empire into two parts, the mainland and the Riau archipelago. The same thing happening in the north where in 1909, a treaty between Siam and British at that time separating the two neighbouring states to the current international border today. The States of Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Perlis still retain their respective Sultan. But not in the case with Pattani. The ill-fate of Pattani start as early as 1786 following the Siamese invasion towards Pattani. The invasion resulted total annexation of Pattani to the Kingdom of Siam in 1902.
Patani Royal Palace
The royal palace of Pattani known as Istana Lama Darul Fathonah. It is still written in Jawi manuscript. The old palace supposedly located on the other side of this wall.
The last Sultan of Patani
The last Sultan of Patani was His Highness Sultan Abdul Kadir Kamaruddin ibni Almarhum Sultan Sulaiman Sharifuddin. He ruled from 1899 until 1902 when he was forced to flee the State following the Siamese invasion and settled in Kelantan. He personally led the Patani Malay Liberation until his death in Kelantan in 1933. According to historians, when Singapore, Sarawak and Sabah federated with the existing States of Federation of Malaya in 1963 and known as Malaysia afterward, the State of Pattani were also put into consideration. But, for some unknown reason, the Prime Minister at that time, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra al-Haj dropped the idea.
Whatever happen in the Southern border of Thailand, it is best for us as fellow Malaysian to become a good neighbour and keep a neutral stance regarding the matter. Even though it is in our best interest to see the once beautiful Malay State of Patani will once again flourished and returned back to its former glory.
Until next time.

Malaysian National Cloth ; The Baju Kurung

Welcome to my blog.
Perhaps most of us has already familiar with the Malaysian Federation status as the multi-ethnic and multi-cultural population. And Malay formed the majority of more than 50% from the population. Each and every ethnic are free to embrace and practice their culture in Malaysia. It is the sense of respect and solidarity to each other that makes this culture thriving in a fast changing society in Malaysia, and still can adapt with the country's modernization.
Today, we will focus on Malaysian National Cloth, the Baju Kurung. Nevertheless, the Baju Kurung is more synonym with the women attire, while for men, it is known as Baju Melayu. A full suit comprising three parts. The first is a long-sleeve shirt, of silk, or cotton, or a mixture of cotton and polyester. Next comes a pair of long pants, of the same material as the shirt. The third piece of the outfit is a piece of cloth called samping wrapped around and folded over the waist. The wearer may also wear a headgear in the form of a songkok to complete the ensemble.

There are varieties of design, especially after the arrival of Islam in the Peninsular and the emergence of Malacca as a thriving international port. Thus, with the dress code from the Islamic Teachings and the sophisticated design of fashion from all over the world, the Baju Kurung also exist in various form of style according to the State and local culture exist in Malaysia. The video below is a simple slideshow of the Baju Kurung.

Assalamualaikum and Peace be upon all of you.
Welcome to my blog.
First of all in this fine morning, I wishing Happy New Year 2012 to all of my visitor, follower and blogwalker. We already leaving the year of 2011, and today is a happy first day of a brand new year of 2012. For me, 2011 is the year where I dedicated some of my time writing and managing the Radin's Blog as a full royal portal since the first day of 2011. It is a really challenging task and yet, full of happiness and surprised. Just imagine writing a story of 9 royal family in Malaysia, it is a job that really need a commitment. So, what is my expectation and hope for this year?
If i'm going to describe it personally, my passion for history has led me to where I am now. A royalist. I am in favour of the system of Constitutional Monarchy. It is undeniable that many people nowadays starting to questioned the relevancy of a hereditary monarch. But, history and record figure has speak for itself. The most democratize nation in the world is not a republic country but a Constitutional Monarchy. The Monarchy system is flexible enough to blend with democracy movement and can still act as a check and balance for the ruling government.
Nevertheless, in any part of the world and in any nation, there will exist a group of republican who try to fight for a full republic instead of a monarchy. But, in a democracy country, it is really unconstitutional to make this group shut (of course in the name of freedom of speech. Well.. whatever-lah). So, the only thing that can be done by royalist is to not at least let those group to gain any momentum. This is another reason for me to publish this blog to promote and to show that the royal family still relevant and stands for something.
If we looked at the State of Kelantan for instance, the Sultan Muhammad V has actually becoming the center of an image of Kelantan's Islamic State. He can even lead the prayer, and that is really something because not everyone is capable of leading the prayer. And, if we looked at Johor, the Sultan Ibrahim also proved to be a champion of traditions as he revived the tradition of Johorean Royal Attire of Dark Blue uniform introduced by Almarhum Sultan Abu Bakar.
A Johorean Royal Attire introduced by Sultan Abu Bakar.
So, it is hoped that the year of 2012 can be a milestone for the royal family to be a modern, democratize and relevant institution but still retain its status as a champion of tradition and religion.
That's it for now

Assalamualaikum and Peace be upon all of you.
Welcome to my blog.
Today is a very special day for me as the writer of the Blog, as it is the third annyversary of Radin's Blog. This three years has been a very wonderful time for me as I developed this blog from mere nothing to what it's stand today, a Malaysian Royal Portal. In the very beginning I have never dreamt of managing a royal portal, much less writing one. But, encourage by my enthusiasm and supports by my fellow friends, I decided to write a royal portal, and in English. It is a very hard work especially for me, but nevertheless I manage to overcome it.
The Malaysian Royal Portal
I have always been a true monarchist and support every and each one of all the royal family around the world, especially to the Malay Royal Families. Where unlike any other, we're not just having one, but 9 Royal Families here in Malaysia. Each of the state eventhough share a similarities, but differs from each other. On top of that, my keen to the royal family also drives by my passion to History subject in school, even today. Anything of history especially regarding to Kings, Queens, royalty, nobility and grand palaces, I just can't left this aside.

Istana Lama Seri Menanti. One of historical palaces in Malaysia. The tallest and oldest wooden made Palace in Malaysia that still standing today. Was built without the use of any nails
Nevertheless, as each of this Sultans standing as a Head of State in the Federation of Malaysia, they usually left out and eclipse by the Head of the Federation, His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong himself. So, to see a portal giving a footage about Malaysian Royalties is really rare, even His Royal Highness Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah of Kedah who has ruled for more than 50 years were left out from the list of Top 10 World Longest Reigning Monarch by many.
Nevertheless, I still can tolerate with all the above until a controversial claimant of abuse arise in a marriage between the Kelantanese Prince, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra and his wife Manohara in 2009. The Royal Family gets media footage from all over the world, but a bad one. Thus, from this point, we can see many of royal portal include a footage of Malaysian Royalties from at which point it is almost entirely unknown prior to the event. But, then again.. only a bad one was covered. So, what it takes to promote back the good and serene images of the Malaysian Royalty? a Malaysian. In the middle of 2010, I started a full modification of Radin's Blog from a personal blog to a royal portal. And the result is beyond my target.
Up until today, the blog received a number of 700 visitors daily. The blog also received 192 interested visitors who become the blog's follower. I am deeply grateful to all of you. And, I also wants to express my gratitude to madmonarchist and BelgieRoyalist who become one of my followers. In addition, my thanks also to the Royaltyinthenews website who kindly enough to link my blog with the rest of other Royal Blogger around the world. It really makes all my effort and hardwork has started to grow into fruitition. And, I will always tried to improve the quality of the blog day by day so it can stand out as a true Malaysian Royal Portal.
That's it for now

Happy Malaysia Day

Assalamualaikum and Peace be upon all of you.
Welcome to my blog.
Today, a bright sunny Friday is another big day for Malaysia as it is today the celebration of Malaysia Day. It is the second celebration held in Malaysia and the first to be held at Merdeka Square, Kuala Lumpur. 16 September 1963 is the day where the Federation of Malaysia was formed. It is a Federation formed by a former British Colonies in South East Asia at that time consist of Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore. Brunei Darussalam rejected the idea in last minute.
The road to Union
After World War II subsided, British resumed their control over their colonies in South East Asia. The entity at that time was Malaya, Singapore, Kingdom of Sarawak and North Borneo. Federation of Malaya was formed on 31st January 1948 replacing the ill-received Malayan Union. With its rich deposits of Tin and Rubber, it is among the Diamond on the British Throne. The rise of rubber price due to the broke out of Korean War has made Malaya exceptionally rich. It is clear that British does not granted an independence to Malaya.
Nevertheless, with the increasing nationalism spirit, our predecessor has make it clear it is time for the land to receive its independence. And Federation of Malaya achieved her independence of 31st August 1957. Singapore alongside Sarawak and North Borneo at that time is a separate British Crown Colonies. Singapore in 1959 was given a self-government, even though it is still a Crown Colony. No entities are in favour of union until 1961, where the merger of these territories were arise again. Prime Minister of Malaya, Tunku Abd Rahman in his speech on 27th May 1961 bring up the idea to unite Malaya, Singapore, Brunei, Sabah and Sarawak under one form of political and economy cooperation.
The idea is mainly to repress the arise of Communism in South East Asia especially with the growth of leftist in Singapore politics. The merger can also prevent racial imbalance, promote economy growth and fasten the independence of Singapore, Brunei, Sarawak and North Borneo. The Cobbold Commission were founded on 17th January 1962 to review the support of the people about the merger. And 70% of the population are in favour of the merger. It has been signed by the United Nation and 31st August 1963 is the original date of the foundation of Malaysia. Nevertheless, the plan need to be hold because the UN report only finished on 14th September 1963. Sarawak has already achieved its independence on 22nd July 1963. Thus, on 16th September 1963, the declaration ceremony was held at Merdeka Stadium, where Tunku Abd Rahman announced the formation of Malaysia in front of 30,000 spectators.
We are Malaysian
Probably some of us has got boring with the repetitive history lesson over and over again. Nevertheless, it is not about the history knowledge, but it is about our appreciation of what has been given to us by our predecessor. It is not an easy task. Our predecessor has manage to achieved independence of Malaya and Sarawak without to spill one drop of blood, but the formation of Malaysia almost triggered a bloody conflict where Indonesia and the Philippines was against the union. So, what we have now cannot be obtain for the second time. Losing our beloved nation meaning losing it forever. Thus, protected it and appreciate it with all our heart. Malaysia is a nation of multi-racial and multi-cultured society. Malaysian are diverse yet united, like our motto in the nation's Coat of Arm, Unity is Strength.
We are Malaysian, so be one.

Assalamualaikum and Peace be upon all of you.
Welcome to my blog.
After a Merdeka - Raya vacation for a week, i'm back for work at Kuala Lumpur. My life even though not as perfect, and below average, but i suppose it is more than enough to search for experience to get a better lifestyle in the future. We can be dreaming to have a better life, but it is our desire and effort to have a better life that will make all the different. Suffering a mild fever during Hari Raya Celebration, and i know i should not asking this.. but.. things can get any worse. I just hope it will not so bad.
It also takes a lot of effort for me to resume this blog. A week holiday makes me pretty lazy. After all.. it's a week holiday. Hari Raya Celebration has passed, nevertheless, the Independence Celebration still around the corner. 31st August 1957 is the Independence Day of Malaysia correct? Everyone knows that. But, if we looking throughout history, its not quite right. It is the day where Federation of Malaya gains independence from British, not Malaysia. In fact, Malaysia still not exist in 1957. So, the National Day for Malaysia is on 16th September 1963, the day where Malaya becoming Malaysia, with the participation of Singapore, Sarawak and Sabah into the Federation. Singapore was expelled from Malaysia in 1965.
And, speaking of holiday, Malaysia Multi-racial, multi-cultural society gives us a special traits of numerous public holidays on several occasions and celebrations. After Merdeka-Raya holidays, we will celebrate Malaysia Day on 16th September. It falls on Friday, so, that's 3-day of holidays. Later, there will be a Deepavali celebration on 26th October. 1-day of public holiday. And we will celebrate the second Muslim Celebration of Eid-Adha on 6th November and 7th November. It falls on Sunday, so, thats another 3-day of public holiday.
Yes, it is save to say that the festive season is still not over yet. There are many holidays to come. Hehe.. I think that's it for now. And for this upcoming Merdeka Celebration on 16th September, how about a little video made by Malaysian, compiled by Malaysian popular vlogger Matlutfi.
Until next time.
