Getbackers

Assalamualaikum and Peace be upon all of you.
Welcome to my blog.

Getbackers

Today animation segment will cover an action-pack animation series, Getbackers. The anime is produced in 2002 adapted from its manga series written by Yuya Aoki and illustrated by Rando Ayamine. The 39 volumes manga is published from 1999 until 2007 by Kondansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine.

SYNOPSIS

The story is about the two superpower members of Getbackers Midou Ban and Amano Ginji. They operate a freelance repossession service, and they will accept the client’s request to recover a lost item with a “100% succession rates” for a fee. The item range from a missing video game to a component of an atomic bomb, thus, usually gets them into a dangerous situation. Their missions usually get complicated when their individual past is included, not to mention a mysterious place known as ‘Limitless Fortress’.

The Limitless Fortress also the center of their stories and background. It is a self-contained of condemned buildings clustered together and form their own self-contained habitat. It is subdivided into three tiers, Lower Level, The Beltline and The Babylon City.

CHARACTER

Midou Ban

Midou Ban

He is the primary character and also the founding member of Getbackers that originally composed of him, Kudo Himiko and Yamato. At some moment, Ban killed Yamato without a reason given and later when entering into the Limitless Fortress, he fought against Ginji Amano, who would later become his best friend. Ban's powers include the "Snakebite", a skill which gives his hands a grip of 200 kilograms-force, and the "Evil Eye" (邪眼, Jagan), an ability to induce minute-long hallucinations on the target of his choosing.

Amano Ginji

Amano Ginji

He is a primary member of Getbackers and also the former leader of a gang called "The VOLTS" in the Limitless Fortress. He received the title "Lightning Emperor" (雷帝, Raitei) because of his ability to control electricity and because he was the ruler of the entire Lower Level of the Limitless Fortress. Amano can also generate enormous amounts of electrical energy. When Ginji left the Limitless Fortress by unknown reasons, the group was divided and some of the members try to survive without Ginji.

Fuuchouin Kazuki

Kazuki

Kazuki Fuuchouin (風鳥院花月, Fūchōin Kazuki) is a major supporting character and ally of the GetBackers. Formerly one of the Four Kings of the Volts, known as Kazuki of the Strings, is the last master of the Fuuchouin String Arts, a fighting style which utilizes koto strings controlled via vibrations in his fingertips. The strings are very sharp and can even tear up solid earth, bones, skin, muscles and sometimes steel based on the vibrations of the finger; the strings also have other uses such as listening in on distant conversations. The strings are stored in two bells tied to the front right strand of his hair to ease manipulation.

MakubeX

MakubeX

間久部X (Makube + Ekkusu) is a main antagonist in both the manga and anime series. He is first introduced in the 'Limitless Fortress' arc when the GetBackers are hired to retrieve the mysterious 'IL' from him. It is later discovered that IL is in fact a computer disc containing important data required for producing an atomic bomb. (however, IL is also a short form for "implosion lens", one of the most crucial parts of an implosion-type nuclear weapon). MakubeX was found in a sack as a child. Only his last name: Makube, is known; because it was written on the bag. He later came to be known as MakubeX, the 'x' symbolizing an unknown variable, and his "name" is always written in romaji. MakubeX is a genius hacker, capable of manipulating computers to do whatever he pleases. He was originally taught by Gen but swiftly surpassed him in skill.

Masaki Kurusu

Kurusu

Masaki Kurusu (来栖征, Kurusu Masaki), is the last member of the Four Kings during the era of VOLTS. His techniques allow him to control light, bypassing any physical defense and inflicting internal damage, thus earning him the title "the Controller of Light / Flash Master" (閃光の支配者?). He is also able to use light to blind his opponents' senses. In the manga, he's Hevn former lover and a good friend of the GetBackers duo. In the anime, he is openly allied with Babylon City; he kidnaps MakubeX on their orders and reveals that he had been spying on Raitei and Volts for Brain Trust while he was one of the Four Kings.

Fuyuki Shido

Shido

Shido Fuyuki (冬木士度, Fuyuki Shido) is first introduced as the Beastmaster, he has the ability to control animals, although it should be better stated that he asks them for favors, as he views animals as his friends. Previously one of the VOLTS Four Kings, after they disbanded, Shido left the Infinity Fortress to make a living outside, like Ginji Amano, the leader of VOLTS and whom Shido respects as a friend. After reconciling with Ginji (whom he felt had betrayed Volts by leaving the Infinity Fortress) during the "Get Back the Sound of Life!" arc, Shido took a cue from the Get Backers and started his own retrieval service — occasionally aided by Emishi. He is generally very independent and cold to others. Even though his powers allow him to control animals, he considers them friends, and tries to protect them as they do him. He eventually ends up living with Madoka Otowa, and he has an ongoing rivalry with Ban Mido.

One day before Christmas

Photobucket

Looking at the circumstances at the shopping mall around Johor Bahru, it is hard to miss that Christmas is just around the corner. It is a common sight in Malaysia. The multi-racial, multi-ethnic and multi-religion community has brought festive season each time the festival is near. Not to mention public holidays! The Christmas celebration this year more festive compare to last year. My neighbor, Uncle Tony and Aunty Anne has prepares and decorate a beautiful Christmas decoration and Christmas tree.

Christmas that fall on Friday has given a three days celebration including the government public holiday on Saturday and Sunday. During my school years, even though we do not have any summer holiday, having festival holiday is more than enough. One week for Eid-Fitr, 2 days for Eid Al-Adha, 1 day for Christmas, 1 week for Chinese New Year and 3 days of Deepavali, independence day, Birthday of the King of Malaysia and 4 weeks of semester break and a whole months break of end of year holidays. All that holidays make up more than 2 and half month of holiday for the whole year!

Holiday.. Holiday and Holiday… :D

Polar Bear

Assalamualaikum and Peace be upon all of you.
Welcome to my blog.

Photobucket

For this winter season, I think it’s best for me to cover the Flora and Fauna segment to wildlife from the extreme condition of the North Pole. Feast your eyes to the biggest bear of the bear family, The Polar Bear. This special white bear can only live in the Artic circle. It is also the biggest carnivore ever to find on land.

There are about 20 000 – 25 000 number of Polar Bear around the world. The biggest threat to Polar Bear is indeed Global Warming. If nothing is made to the global warming effect or at least reducing it, two-third of the current polar bear population will be disappear by 2050.

BIOLOGY

Polar Bear is the biggest carnivore in the world, with male adults can weight almost 350 – 680 kg and female is about 150 – 249 kg (499 kg when pregnant). The white polar bear fur consists of a layer of a layer of dense underfur and an outer layer of guard hairs. The sense of smell is extremely well-developed sense of smell; ranging about 1.6km and can smell underneath the snow about 3 ft. It is also an excellent swimmer.

Most of polar Bear diet consists of Ringed and Bearded Seals.

The average age for Polar Bear is about 25 years old and rarely lives beyond that. The oldest wild bear died at 32 years old, while a record of captives bear is a female died at 41 years old in 1991. Polar Bear becomes sexually actives at 4 years old for female and 6 years old for male.

Photobucket

The mating seasons for the Polar Bear started in April and May, and the partners will stay together and mate repeatedly for an entire week. In August and September, a pregnant female will eats an amount of food and gaining weight at least 200 kg. Later, each pregnant female will digs a maternity den. Cubs are born between November and January. The cubs are born blind, weighting about 0.9 kg. Average, each mom has two cubs.

Photobucket
The maternity den of Polar Bear

The family will stay in the den until mid-February to mid-April, and the mother is in its fasting period and will feed its cubs by rich fat milk. The cubs will weigh about 10-15 kg when the mother breaks open the entrance. For 12 to 15 days, the family will stay outside where the mother will fed on vegetation and the young will get used to walking and playing.

Photobucket

Later, they will begin the long walk to the sea where the mother can catch seals once again. According to circumstances, the mother probably can fast about 8 months. The cubs will stay with their mother until they are two and the half years old.

After the mother leaves, sibling cubs sometimes travel and share food together for weeks or months.

CONSERVATION STATUS

Even though the population of Polar Bear is relatively stable in recent years, but the threat from global warming makes the conservation status changed from least concern to vulnerable in 2006.

Norway is the only country has banded all kind of Polar Bear hunting.

Ending of 25th SEA Games

Assalamulaikum and Peace be upon all of you.
Welcome to my blog.

25th SEA Games

The 25th Laos Sea Games 2009 has finally comes to an end. This is the first time where Laos has ever hosted an international event and the countries cultures, hospitality and warm welcome has been accepted by all participants. The biannual SEA Games traditionally hosted by rotation system and Laos usually are exceptions due to the countries socio-economy. But in 2003, Vietnam nominated Laos to host the game and Lao gladly accept.

Thailand emerges as the over-all champion in this year game as the country gain 86 gold medal. Vietnam in the second place after gains 83 gold and Indonesia is in the third with 43 gold. It is a shocking truth that the Vietnam capability in sports has increased over the years.

For the Malaysian Team, Congratulation, well done and thanks for all your hard work. Gaining 40 gold medals has placed the country in the fourth place not to mention able to over achieve the medal target of only 35 gold.

We are the champion!!

For over 20 years since the last time we ever taste the gold medal for football in the SEA games. It has been too long. With an astonishing victory in Laos, well done to the Malaysian Tiger!! The Rajagopal Team been defeated by Vietnam in earlier round, Nevertheless the team is able to make a comeback and winning the game.

The Malaysian Football Team under 23 score of 1-0 against Vietnam is enough to made the difference. Nevertheless, it is a tough fight for our warrior especially facing the reality that Vietnam able to make it into the Sea Games Football final four times in a row.

HISTORY

Photobucket

Negri Sembilan (nine states) is a federation of states on the West coast of peninsular Malaysia. Immigrants from Minangkabau in Sumatra peopled the state during the late seventeenth and early e ighteenth centuries. An ancient people, who once adhered strictly to Buddhist teachings, their laws of inheritance and government differ substantially from Muslim norms. Property, nobility and titles are all heritable through the female line. Government is decentralised, with rulers selected by the great nobles or regional magnates.

In the last quarter of the eighteenth century, the Minangkabau immigrants in Malaya petitioned their sovereign in Sumatra to send them a prince to establish government over them. The Minangkabau ruler, Sultan 'Abdu'l Jalil, obliged by delegating his relative near, Raja Melawar.

Arriving to find that a certain Raja Khatib had established himself as ruler, Melawar was forced to compromise with the lesser chiefs in order to secure his position. He defeated and expelled Raja Khitab with their help in 1728. Raja Khatib fled to Nanning with his principal followers, but was enticed by the Dutch authorities to go to Malacca, where he was imprisoned and then expelled to Siak under the care of Raja Ketchil. Meanwhile, Raja Melawar married the daughter of the Penghulu of Ulu Muar and received the area around Sri Menanti as his personal domain. He was then formally invited to assume the position of supreme ruler of the nine states. The Sultan of Johor, paramount sovereign of the peninsular, confirmed his position by granting the personal title of Sultan and recognising him as Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negri Sembilan (he who is supreme lord of the nine states). He was so installed at Penajis in 1730.

After Raja Melawar's death, a series of disputes arose over the succession. For a considerable period the local nobles applied to the Minangkabau ruler in Sumatra for their ruler. However, competing interests supported different candidates, often resulting in instability and civil war. This pattern continued until a convention of choosing the rulers from the family of Raja 'Ali [Raja Lenggang Laut], became established during the middle of the nineteenth century.

Although the number of states within Negri Sembilan has fluctuated over the years, the federation now consists of six states, Jelebu, Johol, Linggi, Rembau, Sri Menanti, Sungai Ujong and Tampin. The rulers are known collectively as the Undang Laut. All, save Sri Menanti and Tampin, are themselves, selected by the great nobles of their states. They all take part in the selection of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar.

School Holiday

Assalamualaikum and Peace be upon all of you.
Welcome to my blog.

December finally comes around and we actually have in the end of the year. Most popular question I’ve heard usually, “Did you have found your love one?” The answer is “Of Course Not” The question arises probably due to the common scenario every December. It is the school holiday, thus many couples plan to hold their wedding in this month so that all of their distant relatives can come.

Photobucket

The same goes to the Radin Family. 3 of my first cousin wedding ceremony will be held in this month, starting this week. There are many datelines, thus made me not in the mood for blogging. Maybe I need a rest, holiday maybe. But some article will be post as usual, no problem.

See you next time.

Happy Aidil-Adha 1430

Assalamualaikum and Peace be upon all of you
Welcome to my blog.

Photobucket

To all muslim around the world, Happy Aidil Adha. Aidil Adha or in other spelling Eid Al-Adha, is the second festive day in Islam after Eid Al-Fitr (Malay = Aidil Fitri). The festive start with a prayer in the Mosque and followed by a sermon just like Eid Al-Fitr. The difference between this two festive day are Eid Al-Fitr is a celebration day after fasting for 1 month while Eid Al-Adha is a day to commemorate the willingness of Nabi Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, Nabi Ismail as an act of obedience to God. Thus, Eid Al-Adha also called as ‘Festival of Sacrifice’.

In Malaysia, it is also named as Hari Raya Haji as the festival is celebrated during the Hajj season.

TRADITION AND PRACTICE

Eid Al-Adha starts in every 10, 11, 12 and 13 of Zulhijjah in the Islamic Calendar. But in the Gregory calendar, usually there a slight difference according to the place. It is due to the difference angle of view of the visibility of the moon.

In the morning 10 Zulhijjah, the prayer will be held in the mosque followed by a sermon. After the prayer, the sacrifice will begin. Muslims who can afford to do it will sacrifice their best domestic animals. What kind of animal? It must be any domestic animal that has four legs and has reach maturity, For example; camel, cows, goat and sheep. The sacrificial meat later will be given to the poor as a gift.

Birds and pigs are not an option.
