HM Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin presented the instrument of appointment to Tun Abg Muhammad Salahuddin for his re-appointment as the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sarawak for two years.
Also present at the ceremony were Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abd Razak; Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan.

HE Tun Abg Muhammad Salahuddin signed the statutory declaration and proclamation letter witnessed by Tan Sri Abd Taib Mahmud and Tan Sri Richard Malanjum.
After receiving the Instrument of appointment from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, Tun Abg Muhammad Salahuddin today took his oath of office as the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sarawak at a ceremony a Dewan Lapau, Sarawak State Legislative Assembly building in Petra Jaya. Tun Abg Muhammad Salahuddin, 90, also signed the statutory declaration as the Yang Dipertua Negeri, witnessed by the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, Tan Sri Richard Malanjum and the proclamation letter, witnessed by Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abd Taib Mahmud.
Also present at the ceremony were his wife, Toh Puan Norkiah; Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Alfred Jabu; Sarawak State Assembly Speaker, Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia bin Awang Nassar and Sarawak State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi bin Abdul Ghani.

Tun Abg Muhammad Salahuddin had first served as the third Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sarawak from 1977 - 1981. He was re-appointed as the sixth Yang Dipertua Negeri in 2001 succeeding Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce Mohamed Noor who died in 2001, thus become the first person to serve as the Yang Dipertua Negeri twice in any State in Malaysia. His tenure of service was extended in 2004, 2006 and 2008.
