Trooping the Colour Ceremony

HM the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (The Supreme Ruler) of Malaysia, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and HM the Raja Permaisuri Agong (the Supreme Queen), Tuanku Nur Zahirah attended the Trooping the Colour ceremony held at Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square). The ceremony was held in conjunction of the Birthday Celebration of the Supreme Ruler was a show of loyalty by the Malaysian Armed Forces to the Supreme Ruler, who is also the Commander-in-chief of the Malaysian Army.

His and Her Majesties Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Tuanku Nur Zahirah arrived at Dataran Merdeka at 8 am. After the Negaraku was played and a 21-gun salute fired, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin then went up to the stage and take the salute before the Guard of Honour comprising members of the three branches of the armed forces. Also present in the ceremony were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansur, and Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and wife, Puan Sri Norainee Abdul Rahman.

Five helicopters of the Armed Forces carrying flags of Malaysia, the army, Royal Malaysian Navy and Royal Malaysian Air Force took part in the fly past over Dataran Merdeka. HM Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin accompanied by the Armed Forces Chief, Tan Sri Azizan Ariffin inspected the Guard of Honour comprising 23 officers and 520 members of the Armed Forces led by Lt Col Mohameed Feizol Anuar Ayob. The combined Armed Forces central band, led by Capt Zaiful Azman Zainul Abidin then preceded the Trooping the Colour in full military pageantry, with fast and slow march steps.

Three calls of Daulat Tuanku by the parade members were then heard before the ceremony ended with the reciting of the Doa Selamat. Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin took the salute again from the Guard of Honour and Fly-Past by the five army helicopters before leaving the venue. The ceremony ended at 9.05 am.
