Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah said he had studied the JAIS report on the investigation conducted during a thanksgiving dinner at the church premises and after obtaining advice from religious and legal experts, he agreed that no legal action be taken against any quarters. The Sultan said JAIS' jurisdiction was provided under the Selangor Syariah Criminal Procedure Enactment 2003, Selangor Syariah Criminal Enactment 1995 and Selangor Non-Islamic Religion (Control of Propagation Among Muslims) Enactment 1988.

Sultan Sharafuddin also instructed JAIS to provide counselling to the Muslims who attended the dinner function so as to restore their faith and belief in Islam. He also asked JAIS to carry out Islamic propagation activities for Muslims with more frequency and systematically to ensure their faith in Islam would prevail and deepen. Sultan Sharafuddin said as head of religion in Selangor, he was concerned and hurt by the efforts of certain quarters to weaken the faith of Muslims in Islam.

Sultan Sharafuddin said Islam as practised in Selangor was tolerant and Muslims were always encouraged to respect other religions. The Sultan also noted that Article XLVII of the Selangor State Constitution 1959, Clause (1) of Article 3 and Clause (1) of Article 11 in the Federal Constitution provide the freedom for people of other faiths to practise their religion in peace.
