Today is the coronation day of Tuanku Muhriz ibni Tuanku Munawir as the 11th Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus. The coronation is the peak ceremony after the proclamation of Tuanku Muhriz as the Yang Dipertuan Besar in 28 Dicember 2008 and also the proclamation of Tuanku Ampuan Besar Negeri Sembilan (Queen Consort). Tuanku Muhriz succeeded the throne after the 4 Undang of Negeri Sembilan has made a decision to proclaim Tuanku Muhriz as the ruler of Negeri Sembilan following the death of Tuanku Jaafar, 10th Yang dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan.

All citizens of Negeri Sembilan feel grateful for the proclamation as the throne has been given back to its rightful owner.

Daulat Tuanku!
Long Live the King!

BRIEF HISTORY

Tuanku Muhriz is the only son to Tuanku Munawir who is also the 9th Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan who reigns from 1960 – 1967. During the death of his father in 1967, the 4 Undang of Negeri Sembilan did not proclaim Tuanku Muhriz as the next Yang Dipertuan Besar as he is still 18 years old at that time. The 4 Undang proclaim Tuanku Jaafar instead.
Negeri Sembilan is differs from the other state as it is the only state in Malaysia where “Adat Perpatih” (The Perpatih Custom) reign supreme.

In Negeri Sembilan, the first prince of the ruler will not become the Heir Apparent, but an Inheritance Prince instead. Four Local Chieftains called Undang will choose the next Ruler (like the Elector) from 4 Inheritance Prince. In the history of Negeri Sembilan, there are 3 times where the Undang did not proclaimed the son of the Yang Dipertuan Besar to succeed his father.
