His Royal Highness the Tunku Mahkota (Crown Prince) of Johor, Tunku Ismail Idris ibni Sultan Ibrahim consent to be nominated in the President election of Kesatuan Olahraga Malaysia (KOM), Malaysia Athletic Union. The Crown Prince, who is also active in Polo among one of the best candidate to lead the Malaysia's oldest sports union after gaining support from 10 out of 15 representative of the state athletic association who nominated him for the post. The association who in favour of the Crown Prince are Johor, Selangor, Kelantan, Terengganu, Melaka, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Pulau Pinang, Federal Territory and Sarawak. The nomination were voiced by Datuk Mohd Rashidi Mohd Nor, who is the President of Johor Athletic Association when meet an audience with the Crown Prince at Istana Pasir Pelangi on past March 18, 2012.
After the audience, the Crown Prince of Johor who is also the President of PBNJ asking to give times for him to think it thorough before giving his answer. Last week, His Royal Highness the Sultan of Johor has giving his royal assent for the Crown Prince to contest in the position.
According to the KOM's constitution, the position of Deputy President, Vice President and Exco can only be filled by the members of KOM's Council, the position of President can be contested by anyone even they are not a member of the council. The new constitution also stated that, any individual who interested to contest the position of President need to gain at least one nomination from the member of the Council. Last month, former Deputy President of KOM, Datuk Danyal Balagopal who is now the Vice President of Malaysia Olympic Council voice his interest to contest as KOM's President.
