Welcoming ceremony at Istana Nurul Iman

His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (the Supreme Ruler) of Malaysia, Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah who currently on a three-day State visit to Brunei received the welcoming ceremony at Istana Nurul Iman yesterday. His Majesty and Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Hajah Haminah arrived at the palace grounds at 11 am. The national anthems of the two countries were played at the welcoming ceremony as a 21-gun salute boomed. Tuanku Abdul Halim also inspected the guard-of-honour with His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Raja Permaisuri Agong were both presented with floral bouquets by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah's children Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Puteri Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah and Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Abdul Wakeel before entering Istana Nurul Iman for the state visit. Tuanku Abdul Halim was also introduced to the Speaker of the Brunei Legislative Council, as well as the country's ministers and deputy ministers.
At night, the royal couple attended the Royal Dinner hosted by the Sultan of Brunei at Istana Darul Hana. Also present were the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, members of the royal family and other dignitaries. In his speech, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong said that, Malaysia and Brunei can improve cooperation in highly potential sectors, including agriculture, information technology, Islamic banking and infrastructure.
