The downfall of SUPP.

SUPP, among the oldest political party in Sarawak.

Even though BN still able to retain its 2/3 majority in the State Assembly, this year election has seen the downfall of Sarawak’s oldest political party, Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP). The Chinese dominated party in Sarawak suffers the same fate with their MCA and Gerakan counterpart in the peninsular when the Chinese voters switch sides to DAP. SUPP in 2006 was the second largest party in the BN Sarawak’s Government. Nevertheless, it has become the weakest party in new government after only capable of winning 6 seats from 19 constituency its contested in the election. The President of SUPP, Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam, who is also the Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak was defeated in the election.

In the PR’s side, even though failed to at least denied 2/3 BN majority in the Assembly, the success of DAP to securing 12 seats in the election is surprising when the party only won 6 seats in 2006 election. Based on the party's performance, the party Parliamentary Leader, Lim Kit Siang has openly announced that, even though PR have failed to captured Sarawak, the state is no longer the fixed-deposit of BN.

The Royal Crown

Most reigning monarch in the world shall have in their possessions, The Royal Crown as a symbolic of their authority as the reigning King or Queen. In Malaysia however, Royal Crown is not the very symbol of our Malay Monarch as the monarch has an especially design Malay headdress called as The Tengkolok. Each state has its own unique designed for the reigning Sultan. Nevertheless, there are 4 Sultans in Malaysia which has a Royal Crown in their possession.

The States which have the Royal Crown is Johor, Terengganu, Kelantan and Selangor.

The Crown of Johor

The Crown of Johor probably the most exclusives and rarely showed in the public. It is also known as the crown of Emerald, Ruby and Diamond. The Crown was originally used for the Coronation ceremony of the Sultan of Johor. Nevertheless, the last Sultan ever to be officially crowned was HRH Sultan Ismail Al-Khalidi. The Sultan of Johor does not have any Tengkolok for any official function.

The Nomination Day

Assalamualaikum and Peace be upon all of you.
Welcome to my blog.

Photobucket

Finally, the nomination day of Sarawak State Elections begins smoothly yesterday without any incidents throughout the day. With the ending of nomination day, it is a signal of 9-days elections campaign for the 10th Sarawak State Election. It is held to renew the mandate from the people as the last election was held in 2006. And, compare to the state election in 2006, this is the most fierce election ever been held. There are all together 71 contested seats, where there are 213 candidates participate in the elections. It is a tough battle for BN to renew its mandates to continue its undisturbed rules in Sarawak.

Photobucket

For BN, all contested parties are Sarawak based parties, which Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) is in the lead. Other BN component parties include SUPP, SPDP and PRS. BN contest in all contested seats. Nevertheless, unlike 2006, there are no ‘uncontested win’ for BN yet.

For PR on the other hand, there are problems occur especially between Peninsular based party, PKR with Sarawak based party of SNAP regarding the seats allocation. The plans supposedly that DAP contested in Chinese majority area, PAS in Muslim majority area, SNAP in Dayak majority area while PKR in Malay-Melanau area. Nevertheless, the unsolved problems let to a failure to plans a straight fight between BN and PR.

With a exceptional numbers of independence candidate, there are about 23 seats of 3-cornered fights, 17 seats of 4-cornered fights, 2 seats of 5-cornered fights and 2 area of 6-cornered fights. Thus, BN has a tough fight to renew its fresh mandate for this upcoming election on 16th April. Even the Chief Minister of Sarawak are challenge in a three cornered fights in this election.

Shall BN win the election? Or shall PR form a new government just like it did to 4 peninsular states in 2008? Lets we wait and see in this upcoming 16th April 2011.

The new month

Assalamualaikum and Peace be upon all of you.
Welcome to my blog.

First of all, I want to say sorry because my post has stopped abruptly in past week. This is due to several issues that I need to handle, not to mention exhaustion because of working. 8 hours in the office and need to wake up early in the morning, needs me to sleep early at night. Not to mention, I need to spend almost an hour to finish any of my topic for the day. So, there are indeed several articles that I supposedly post it earlier.

Nevertheless, Saturday and Sunday is more than enough time for me to handle the problem. Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow will be a nice day for me to work on the lineage of Negeri Sembilan Royal Family, among the most unique royal family in Malaysia.
