Former Speaker of Sabah State Assembly, Datuk Seri Panglima Juhar Mahiruddin is sworn in as the new Yang Dipertua Negeri (Governor) of Sabah. The inauguration ceremony of the new Yang Dipertua Negeri was made at the Sabah State Palace in front of the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, Tan Sri Richard Malanjum. Datuk Seri Panglima Juhar Mahiruddin, 57 replace Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah as the Yang Dipertua Negeri who ended his administration after hold the title for two consecutive term. The state law clearly stated that, the appointed Yang Dipertua Negeri shall serve for 4 years term and can be re-appointed.
The New Governor
Datuk Seri Panglima Juhar Mahiruddin was born on 5th November 1953 at Kampung Tambisan, Sandakan and a graduate in Bachelor of Laws from Wolverhampton Polytechnic, England. He starts his career in civil service as a first class magistrate in 1982. He became a political secretary at the Chief Minister’s Department 4 years later. He has been appointed as the Deputy Speaker of Dewan Rakyat when serves as Member of Parliament Kinabatangan in 1990 until 1999, and appointed as the Speaker of sabah State Assembly in 2002.
Datuk Seri Panglima Juhar Mahiruddin married with Datin Seri Panglima Nurlidah RM Jasni and their marriage is blessed with 2 sons and 2 daughters.
