Datuk Muhammad Khusrin Munawi sworn in as the new State Secretary of Selangor before the Sultan of Selangor, HRH Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah at Istana Bukit Kayangan. In the ceremony, Sultan Sharafuddin has stated that he does not want the appointment of Khusrin as the new State Secretary of Selangor to be expanded, politicized and sensationalized to avoid causing confusion among the people.

Earlier, the Chief Minister of Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Nordin was against the appointment of the new SUK because he was not consulted about it. Thus, The Sultan asserts that the appointment of Mohammed Khusrin is according to regulations and procedure as set in the Federal and State Constitution.

In the ceremony, the new Director of Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor, (JAIS) Marzuki Hussin, 56 also takes the Oath of Loyalty before the Sultan. It later followed by members of the Royal Council and Jaksa Pendamai to takes the oath. The Sultan Sharafuddin also gives his consent to bestow Darjah Kebesaran Sultan Idris Shah to the Raja Muda (Crown Prince) of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah.

The Chief Minister and fellow members of State Executive Councilors are present at the ceremony.

Sultan of Kelantan receives DK Selangor

HRH Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V gives his consent to receive Darjah Kerabat Yang Amat Dihormati (DK) from the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah in a special ceremony at Istana Bukit Kayangan, Selangor. At the ceremony, Sultan Muhammad V also consents to bestow the Darjah Kebesaran Seri Paduka Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Mulia AlMuhammadi I to the Raja Muda (Crown Prince) of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah.

The ceremony took place at the Throne Chamber of Istana Bukit Kayangan and also witness by nine District Nobilities. Nevertheless, the Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) of Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim who is also a member of Selangor Royal Council did not attend the ceremony.

Between MB and SUK

In Malay, MB popularly stands for Menteri Besar, the title hold for the Head of Government in the Malay States. While SUK stands for Setiausaha Kerajaan, in Malay it means State Secretary. The crisis and odds between the MB and SUK of Selangor is the hot topic for January 2011. The State Secretary, unlike the post of Chief Minister, is the highest civil servant post in Malaysia. Meaning, SUK position is secured where unlike the Menteri Besar post, where every five years, they need to be re-elected in election to the post. Thus, some person noted that, the SUK can be more powerful than the Menteri Besar himself. The good relations between this two can make a nice duo, while and odds between the two, can possibly put the downfall of any one of them.

It is all started when the Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Awam (SPA) appointed Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi as the new State Secretary of Selangor. Then, in December 27, the Press Secretariat of the Chief Minister Department announces that the appointment is not final as the Chief Minister of Selangor was never informed about it. Nevertheless, the appointment of Khusrin is legal by law and effectively starts in January 1. He is scheduled to sworn allegiance in front of the Sultan of Selangor on January 6 at Istana Bukit Kayangan. But, he still needs to take the Oath of Secrecy before the Chief Minister of Selangor, which he still failed to do so.

The Chief Minister’s Statement

The Chief Minister of Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim stated that, until there is no conclusive solution been made between the Selangor State Government and Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Awam (SPA), the state government will not entertain any ceremony or celebration regarding the State Secretary post. At the Press Conference, Khalid stated that the Sultan still not consent about the appointment of Khusrin as the new State Secretary. In addition, the Sultan has no rights to accept or rejected the appointment made by SPA as the power has been removed by State Constitutional Amendments in 1993. And the Sultan has proposed to the state government to make a discussion with SPA to find a conclusive solution.

Hence, until the discussion is made between the State Government and SPA, the State Secretary shall not be invited to any Exco Meetings and Selangor Economic Action Council as an ex-officio. There will be no Oath of Secrecy be taken before the Chief Minister for that matter.

At the same time, the State Government will also proposed to the Speaker of Selangor State Assembly Seating to hold a Special Session of the State Assembly for Constitutional Amendments to return the exclusive appointment power of three executives officials, The State Secretary, Financial Officer and Law Adviser to the Sultan and the Chief Minister.

The Sultan’s Authority

Meanwhile, the Private Secretary of Sultan of Selangor, Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani has stated that the Sultan of Selangor, HRH Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah still retain its executives power to consent any appointment made by SPA including the State Secretary. Thus, any statement said that His Royal Highness does not have any power to approve and rejects are mainly a statement made by the Chief Minister of Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

The Private Secretary also noted that, during the time when the Chief Minister meets an audience with the Sultan, the Sultan has asked him of why the State Government does not want to approve the appointment of Mohammed Khusrin as the new State Secretary. Nevertheless, the question has never been answered by Khalid.

The 10th Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah Inauguration Ceremony

Former Speaker of Sabah State Assembly, Datuk Seri Panglima Juhar Mahiruddin is sworn in as the new Yang Dipertua Negeri (Governor) of Sabah. The inauguration ceremony of the new Yang Dipertua Negeri was made at the Sabah State Palace in front of the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, Tan Sri Richard Malanjum. Datuk Seri Panglima Juhar Mahiruddin, 57 replace Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah as the Yang Dipertua Negeri who ended his administration after hold the title for two consecutive term. The state law clearly stated that, the appointed Yang Dipertua Negeri shall serve for 4 years term and can be re-appointed.

The New Governor

Datuk Seri Panglima Juhar Mahiruddin was born on 5th November 1953 at Kampung Tambisan, Sandakan and a graduate in Bachelor of Laws from Wolverhampton Polytechnic, England. He starts his career in civil service as a first class magistrate in 1982. He became a political secretary at the Chief Minister’s Department 4 years later. He has been appointed as the Deputy Speaker of Dewan Rakyat when serves as Member of Parliament Kinabatangan in 1990 until 1999, and appointed as the Speaker of sabah State Assembly in 2002.

Datuk Seri Panglima Juhar Mahiruddin married with Datin Seri Panglima Nurlidah RM Jasni and their marriage is blessed with 2 sons and 2 daughters.

Farewell Ceremony

The Yang di-Pertua Negeri (Governor) of Sabah, Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah depart to leaving the Sabah State Palace with his wife, Toh Puan Dayang Masuyah Awang Japar after resides there as the Governor of Sabah for 8 years. His place will be replaced by the former Speaker of Sabah State Assembly, Datuk Johar Mahiruddin. Tun Ahmadshah, 64 was sworn in as The Yang di-Pertua Negeri (Governor) of Sabah on 1^st January 2003 replacing Tun Sakaran Dandai.

The Yang di-Pertua Negeri (Governor) of Sabah, hold the function as the ceremonial figures of Sabah and as the Head of State representing HM Yang di-Pertuan Agong (The Supreme Ruler) of Malaysia. Once appointed, the Governor shall hold the title for 4 years term and can be re-appointed.

Present at the farewell ceremony is the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Musa Aman; Deputy Chief Minister, Cabinet Minister, State and Federal Head of Department, and People’s Representatives.

High Consul of Indonesia, Soepeno Sahid and High Consul of Japan, Kazuyoshi Yamaguchi also present at the ceremony to wish farewell to Tun Ahmadshah.

The New Year finally hear, Happy New Year 2011 everyone. So, what is your New Year Resolution for this brand New Year? It is a must for me because I usually will set up a target that I must fulfill before the year ended. For 2010, I have already.. well.. not all of them, but I have completed some of my target. 2010 is a special year for me, having much good as so as bad time as an adult. So, for this New Year, I have set a new theme for the blog. Well, the header will be maintained for now, but some special post I will insert here for a future reference for my visitor/blogwalker/follower.

The Chamber of Patriotism

Yes, the new chamber has been opened in the blog. It is the second installment to Radin’s Blog as the theme of “The Royal Library” has almost ended. After our Malaysian Football Team secures their victory in the AFF Suzuki Cup, I can say that, it just takes a single championship title to rose up the level of patriotism among Malaysian. Well done, everyone. And to support the increasing patriotic spirit, I will put up some of our nation pride and national symbol in the blog.

Wishes

For this year 2011, May all of our wishes and dream will comes true. And, nothing else matter for me than hoping that this year will be even better compare to last year. Well, I can hear the fireworks have already kicked in. I just celebrated it at home, is my routine every year. Spending time with my family members in the New Year Celebration at home is our family tradition since I was a kid.

The last day of 2010

Welcome to my blog

Finally, we are now at the end of 2010. Tomorrow, we will celebrate the brand new year of 2011. A happy day today it is. After Malaysian Football Team emerges as Champion in the AFF Suzuki Cup (previously known as the Tiger Cup), Malaysian celebrates one day of public holiday. Well, in the internet, there also exist a few of Malaysian who actually against it, stating that a public holiday is a loss to the private sector as an excuse. It is a norm however, we cannot satisfy all parties. For me personally, we have experiences more than 20-years dark ages of our football. Now is the time for the tiger to wake up and roars. To do that, morale support is a must. Well done again Malaysia.

2010 Summary

There’s not much news from the palace recently, so the Royal Portal has been quite down for this week. Nevertheless, as the New Year is approaching, I think it would be nice to sort out a summary of what 2010 is really about for us Malaysian. Let’s check it out.


January

On January 22, sad news befall to Johorean after HRH the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Iskandar dies at the age of 77. His body was laid to rest at Mahmoodiah Royal Mausoleum, Johor Bahru. His first son, Tunku Ibrahim Ismail was proclaimed as the fifth Sultan of modern Johor on January 23.

February

On February 9, the Federal Court declares that Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir as a rightful Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) of Perak.

March

March 14, the history was made by Malaysia’s World no.1 badminton Player, Lee Chong Wei who wins the All England men’s title.

April

On April 3, marks the first year anniversary for Datuk Seri Najib Razak as the Prime Minister of Malaysia

May

May 19, Kelantanese Palace Guard, Ramli Mohamad, who was shot by an unidentified assailant on May 1, dies at the hospital after 19 days.

June

On June 2, all 12 Malaysian on board the Turkish vessel, Mavi Marvara are safe following the flotilla attack by the Israeli Naval Forces which carrying activist to the Gaza Strip killing at least ten people. On June 5, six Malaysian on board the Cambodian vessel Rachel Corrie which suffers the same fate are also safe and return a day later.

July

On July 28, the national flower of Malaysia, Bunga Raya (Hibiscus Rosa Sinesis) turns 50 and celebrates its Golden Jubilee.

August

On August 12, The Ipoh-Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Electric Train Service (ETS) express route began operation.

September

On September 13, The Regent of Kelantan, Tengku Muhammad Faris Petra was proclaimed as the new Sultan of Kelantan with the title HRH Sultan Muhammad V.

October

On October 15, Malaysian Parliament celebrates its 50 years anniversary of the formation.

November

On November 10, Perusahaan Otomobil Negara (Proton) launched Proton Inspira based on the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo.

December

There is no news bigger in this month compare than the stylish victory of Malaysian Football Team in the AFF Suzuki Cup on December 29.

Conclusion

There are many more events or what can I say as tragedy befall in 2010, but as there’s not enough time and room to put it all here. Talk about New Year, did all of us has actually made their New Year Resolution? No?? Better made one now ^^.

Welcome to my blog

First of all, congratulations to our football team for successfully wins the AFF Suzuki Cup. After the final whistle was blow, Malaysian Football Team wins the cup after beating Indonesia with an aggregate of 4-2 in the final. The stylish victory in Bukit Jalil with 3-0 has helped Malaysian Team a lot to emerge victorious. It is a tough and hard battle especially facing a team who had defeated us earlier in the game with 1-5. Nevertheless, the team have faces the challenge ahead. A tough opponent and fanatic fans cannot undermine the morale of our national team. The battle between the Tiger and Garuda was indeed intences.

Once again, well done to the Tiger!!
Lets this victory be the key to many victories in the future and brings our football team back to its former glory. And in conjunction of the special event, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak declare Friday, December 31, 2010 as a public holiday. (^_^)

P.S :: I must admit, I am very nervous with the penalty kick, but I’m glad our goal keeper can catch it. The circumstances would have be different if the penalty kick scores a goal.

Malaysian States Flag

Today, we are going to see and learn about the States Flag used in Malaysia. Federation of Malaysia consists of 13 states and Federal Territory. Each state has its own identity, including flag, coat of arms and others. In this post, we are going to see the 14 states flags used in Malaysia.


Flag of Sabah

The flag of Sabah consist of 5 colours, the most colour compare to others. The flag was adopted on 16th September 1988. It is consist of a canton and three stripes.

In the canton ::

A silhouette of Mount Kinabalu – represents the State Government of Sabah
Royal Blue (Mount Kinabalu) – represents strength and harmony
Icicle Blue (background) – represents unity and prosperity

The three stripes consist of ::

Zircon Blue – represents peace and calmness
White – represents purity and justice
Chilli red – represents courage and determination


Flag of Sarawak

The flag of Sarawak consist of three colours used on the flag of the Kingdom of Sarawak of the White Rajah. The flag was adopted in 1988.

It consist of ::

Yellow – represents Supremacy of Law and Regulations (Order), unity and stability in the multi-ethnic society
Star – the harmony, high ideals and inspirations of Sarawakian.
The star’s 9-vertices – represents the nine division of Sarawak.

The stripes consist of ::

Red – represents the courage, dedication and sacrifice of the people in their ongoing efforts to pursue and defend the dignity of the progress and elevation in the process of building the state of Sarawak.
Black – represents Sarawak’s wealth of natural resources such as crude oil and timber as the foundation for the development of its people.


Flag of Johor

The flag of Johor bears a canton pattern. The current flag was adopted in 1865, make it the oldest flag in Malaysia.

It consist of ::

White crescent and 5-pointed star – represents Johor’s sovereign ruler, The Sultan of Johor.
Red – represents the warriors that defend the states.
Navy Blue – represent the State Government of Johor.


Flag of Pahang

The flag of Pahang is adopting a simple design, of horizontal bicolour flag. The upper half and lower half are equally proportionate bands.

It consists of ::

White – represents the Sultan of Pahang
Black – represents the official colour of Bendahara. Signify that the past ruler of Pahang was administrated by Bendahara.

White over Black – represents Pahang as a sovereign state with a royal monarch, as well as its presence in special privileges, laws, customs and codes of conduct, and specific rights of the Sultan.


Flag of Terengganu

The flag of Terengganu similar to others Malay States, the flag design center around the Malay royalty and Islam. It was first in used in 1953.

It consist of ::

Crescent and star – represents Islam as the official religion of the states.

White – Represents The Sultan of Terengganu.
Black – represents the State’s citizens.
The white border surrounding the black – it represents the Sultan’s duty to protect his subjects.


Flag of Kelantan

The current flag of Kelantan was adopted in 1924 with a simpler design compare to the previous flag.

It consist of ::

White charge in the middle – represents the sanctity of the Sultan of Kelantan
Red – represents the honesty of Kelantan’s settlers, citizens and the Sultan.


Flag of Perlis

The flag of Perlis is identical with the flag of Pahang with the difference of colour.

It consist of ::

Yellow – represents the Raja of Perlis
Blue – represents the people of Perlis
Yellow over Blue – Signify the close bond forged between the Raja of Perlis and his peoples.


Flag of Kedah

The flag of Kedah shares a great resemblance with the flag of Kelantan, only differs in the location of the state emblem. The Kedah state emblem is located on the upper left quarter of the flag.

It consist of ::

The State emblem – same interpretation as the state emblem.
Red – The state traditional colour. It is also represents prosperity.


Flag of Pulau Pinang

The flag of Pulau Pinang was first adopted in 1949 after the state become a member of Federation of Malaya.

It consist of three vertical bands with equal width and a Pinang Tree ::

Pinang Tree – represents a tree from which the Island gets its name.
Blue – represents the colour of beautiful seas surrounding the island.
White – represents the state is safe and peaceful.
Yellow – represents prosperity.


Flag of Perak

The flag of Perak consists of three equal horizontal band, all represents the three branches of the Perak Royal Family.

It consists of ::

White – represents HRH The Sultan of Perak.
Yellow – represents the Raja Muda of Perak (Heir Apparent).
Black – represents the Raja Di Hilir of Perak (2nd in line)


Flag of Selangor

The current flag of Selangor was adopted on 30th January 1965. It consists of four proportionally-sized sections.

It consist of ::

Crescent and Star – represents Islam as the official religion of the state.
White – represents the sanctity of Islam.
Red and Yellow - represents the flesh and blood, two elements necessary to give life and energy to the state.


Flag of Negeri Sembilan

The flag of Negeri Sembilan has a canton on the upper hoist, which is divided diagonally from the corner of the upper hoist towards the corner of the lower fly.

It consists of ::

Yellow – represents the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan
Red – represents the citizens of Negeri Sembilan
Black – represents the four undangs (traditional chieftains).


Flag of Melaka

The flag of Malacca divided into two equal horizontal bands. The upper bands divided into two quarters, with a crescent and a star in it.

It consists of ::

Yellow, Blue, Red, White – represents the colour in Jalur Gemilang, signifies that Melaka is a member of the Federation of Malaysia.
Crescent and Star – represents Islam as the state as well as the federation official religion.


Flag of the Federal Territory

The flag of the Federal Territory is used to represent the Federal Territory as a whole. Each territory has its own flag which use when representing the individual Federal Territories. It was adopted on 23rd May 2006.

It consist of ::

Yellow – represents respect, sovereignty and honour.
Red – represents strength.
Blue – represents sincerity, harmony and unity.
Three stars below the national emblem – represents the three entities in the federal territories, and also supporting their mission to become important administrative and business center.

The Supreme Ruler visit former Commander of the Armed Forces

HM Yang di-Pertuan Agong (The Supreme Ruler) of Malaysia, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin visits the former Commander of the Armed Forces, General (B) Tun Ibrahim Ismail who died today. His Majesty arrives at the resident of the late commander, Villa Sang Suria around 12pm. His Majesty also gave his condolences to the family of Tun Ibrahim Ismail. Tun Ibrahim Ismail will be buried in the tombs of heroes after Asar.

Also visit the late commander are the Commander of the Armed Forces, General Tan Sri Azizan Ariffin; Chief of Army, General Datuk Seri Zulkifeli Mohd Zain and the former Prime Minister, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Among the former commanders of the armed forces present are General (B) Tan Sri Borhan Ahmad, General (B) Tan Sri Ismail Omar and General (B) Tan Sri Mohd Ghazali Mohd Seth.
