The Yang di-Pertua Negeri (Governor) of Sabah, Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah depart to leaving the Sabah State Palace with his wife, Toh Puan Dayang Masuyah Awang Japar after resides there as the Governor of Sabah for 8 years. His place will be replaced by the former Speaker of Sabah State Assembly, Datuk Johar Mahiruddin. Tun Ahmadshah, 64 was sworn in as The Yang di-Pertua Negeri (Governor) of Sabah on 1st January 2003 replacing Tun Sakaran Dandai.
The Yang di-Pertua Negeri (Governor) of Sabah, hold the function as the ceremonial figures of Sabah and as the Head of State representing HM Yang di-Pertuan Agong (The Supreme Ruler) of Malaysia. Once appointed, the Governor shall hold the title for 4 years term and can be re-appointed.
Present at the farewell ceremony is the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Musa Aman; Deputy Chief Minister, Cabinet Minister, State and Federal Head of Department, and People’s Representatives.

High Consul of Indonesia, Soepeno Sahid and High Consul of Japan, Kazuyoshi Yamaguchi also present at the ceremony to wish farewell to Tun Ahmadshah.
